This Saturday 21st March at Exeter Cathedral the Devon Philharmonic Orchestra will perform and help raise funds for the lifesaving work of BASICS Devon.
The charity was chosen by organiser Clare, whose husband Dr Andy Smith has volunteered as a BASICS Devon doctor for more than 25 years.

Clare said: “When I was asked to nominate a charity for this concert, my immediate choice was BASICS Devon. I have seen first-hand the dedication and skills needed by Andy and his colleagues in their emergency response care, and the difference they make to patients and their families.”
The evening will celebrate both the charity’s responders and the families who support them while they volunteer their time to help others.
BASICS Devon volunteers provide specialist pre-hospital emergency care across the county, working alongside the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

BASICS Devon is a charity run entirely on donations and volunteer commitment. It receives no government funding, yet provides a vital link in Devon’s emergency response network. Especially in rural areas where delays in ambulance arrival time can significantly affect survival chances. Beyond emergency response, BASICS Devon is also passionate about health education and community empowerment.
