Over the last few years, we have had amazing support from the people of Devon for our work at medical emergencies in the community. We work very closely with the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and our colleagues in the air ambulance service and other voluntary services such as Dartmoor Search and Rescue and the RNLI. We have every intention of continuing our voluntary service during the current Covid-19 pandemic and are being issued with supplies of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Many of the major incident skills of our members are already being fully utilized in the planning phase for emergency response throughout Devon.
It seems an appropriate time to thank all our supporters. Of course, we do appreciate the donations we receive from companies and businesses in Devon (and beyond) but we are always particularly touched by the many small but equally vital donations we receive from individuals and small community groups. At this time, we appreciate that many companies in rural Devon are suffering financially. We also realise that much of our funding comes from people who are self-employed and who are potentially facing real hardship over the coming months. The BASICS Trustees would like to stress that although we do continue to need funds for ongoing activity, we are united in wanting to ensure that nobody suffers further by trying to make donations during this period.
We will sadly no longer be holding face to face or events fundraising, but continue our fundraising activities online and through various other streams. We will keep our website updated and use our social media pages to keep you engaged with our work and would love to hear what you are doing, but we do ask you to also consider your own needs before donating.
Our charity office operates remotely and therefore will continue to be available should you need us. We can arrange virtual meetings and online chats if required.
