CO-OP SHOW CONTINUED SUPPORT TO VOLUNTEER DOCTORS

BASICS Devon, a lifesaving voluntary charity based in Devon, wants to express their thanks to a dedicated community supporter, the Co-Op.

Since 2019, the charity has been an amazing support from the Co-Op staff and members, raising over £20,000 since 2019, most recently with a further £50.00 donation.

Amie Bull Fundraising Manager of BASICS Devon said “Since meeting Kath Hendrick and the team at the Co-op depot and throughout their stores, they have been a continued support. We first met as part of the Co-Op Local Community Fund and just kept in touch. They always go that extra mile to support our volunteers if they can, we both have a strong passion for our local communities and they are an absolute pleasure to work with. We cannot thank them enough for the incredible donations over the last few years.'

Since January BASICS Devon volunteer doctors have attended 230 callouts, 71 of which were at night, and they arrived first on the scene at 30% of them.

With support such as this they are able to continue their mission to provide specialist prehospital medical care, especially reaching those that are vulnerable and isolated and supporting their local ambulance service when they need them most, in one of the most rural counties in the country.

Making themselves available around the clock throughout the year, responding to incidents at the request of the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.
