EMERGENCY MEDICS FLY HIGH

BASICS Devon doctors are asking their supporters to fly high and help them save lives across Devon.

On Saturday 28th September 2019 BASICS Devon will be holding their first Skydive fundraiser. They are inviting people to sign up and take part in a 15,000ft Skydive to help raise vital and much-needed funds whilst making memories that will last forever!

Amie Bull Fundraising Manager for BASICS Devon said ‘I am so excited that BASICS Devon is finally working with Skydive Buzz UK, it marks a great milestone in fundraising for the local charity as they really want to make a difference to people’s lives and be there in an emergency. It is an amazing challenge and an experience that I know personally will stay with our supporters always, especially whilst raising funds for such an important cause which is dedicated to reducing emergency response times and saving lives in Devon.’

BASICS Devon work in partnership with Skydive Buzz UK Ltd, one of the UK’s leading parachute schools. They are based at Dunkeswell Airfield in Honiton and work with many other local and national charities.

Henry, Charity Coordinator at Skydive Buzz UK urges people to give it a try, he says ‘Sign up and do something incredible, you can raise money for BASICS Devon whilst flying through the air. What better way for their supporters to see the actual area that the doctors cover than from 15,000 up! People can really make a difference by raising hundreds if not thousands for Devon’s communities.’

If you want to jump with family and friends Henry added, “If BASICS Devon get 10 people that fundraise for them and complete the jump at 15,000ft Skydive Buzz UK will gift £250 worth of vouchers to BASICS Devon."

Over the last year there have been 422 emergency call outs that BASICS Devon volunteer doctors have responded to across Devon and its surrounding areas, some of which are rural hard to reach incidents.

In 2018, 71 call outs were cardiac arrests which need immediate medical help, for every minute delay, the patient’s chances of survival fall by 10%. If a defibrillator is readily available, patients are six times more likely to survive. Therefore, having responders with instant access to defibrillators and kit increases their chances significantly.

All funds raised will go towards keeping our volunteer doctors on the road and providing them with vital medical equipment enabling them to continue to provide immediate enhanced specialist emergency medical care at the scene of illness or accident. Supporting BASICS Devon really will save lives.

By raising £395, your sky dive will be paid for. Anyone interested should get in contact with BASICS Devon at fundraising@basics-devon.org.uk or call 01752 936299 or you can register online at: www.basics-devon.org.uk
