BASICS Devon has been overwhelmed with the amazing support from local Plymouth business Tamar Telecommunications and want to say thank you. The charity is experiencing an exciting stage of growth with launching their own telephone line so that supporters and their communities can reach them directly and with ease.
Their new phone number is now live and will enable all enquiries for BASICS Devon to be handled efficiently and professionally creating instant communication for local people to connect and contact the charity for all information including fundraising, volunteering or education and training opportunities.
Jamie Christoforou, Director of Tamar Telecommunications said “From the moment we were first approached by BASICS Devon, it was clear that this was such a worthwhile cause to support. Tamar Telecommunications already supports several charities nationally, but what better charity than one that’s based locally, and one that we could one day need ourselves in our local community. We hope the services provided will help further support the vital work that BASICS Devon provides.”
Volunteer responders from BASICS Devon are keen to help reduce emergency response times and are dedicated to being there anytime, anywhere in Devon to help ease pain and suffering in an emergency situation and to save lives across Devon, especially in their rural communities.
Tamar Telecommunications also offer a rewards scheme where their customers can recommend people by giving them a unique code entitling them to credit and rewards when placing an order. It's their way of saying thank you to their customers. Last year BASICS Devon volunteer doctors responded to 422 emergency call outs across Devon and its surrounding areas, some of which are hard to reach rural incidents.
In 2018, 71 call outs were cardiac arrests which need immediate medical help, for every minute delay, the patient’s chances of survival fall by 10%. If a defibrillator is readily available, patients are six times more likely to survive. Therefore, having responders with instant access to defibrillators and kit increases their chances significantly.
There are so many opportunities for people to get involved with BASICS Devon and to show their support for these amazing doctors, all of which have full time careers and young families of their own, yet are fully committed to be on call in their own time.
All funds raised by the charity go towards keeping the volunteer doctors on the road and providing them with vital medical equipment enabling them to continue to provide immediate enhanced specialist emergency medical care at the scene of illness or accident. Supporting BASICS Devon really will save lives.
